This program is intended for youth connected with local youth-serving agencies, including Men As Peacemakers, Boys & Girls Club, and Valley Youth Center.  If you would like your organization to participate in its own canoe building program, contact erika@duluthfolkschool.com

The Duluth Folk School is partnering with local youth-serving agencies to build a skin-on-frame canoe!

This program runs 3:15pm – 6:15pm, Monday through Thursday, from Jan 4 through February 17, 2022.

Our canoe building program provides underrepresented and under-served youth in our area an opportunity to build a canoe, from scratch!

By building canoes, we are teaching young people craftsmanship skills, discipline, positive work habits, and helping to bolster self-confidence. This program also helps connect youth with our local rivers, lakes, and the wonderful opportunities and lessons of our natural world. This canoe building program also develops relationship-building with adult helpers who provide support and serve as role models.
