During your class you will harvest splint from a Black Ash log to create a trappers basket. This step is pounding on a log to sheer the spring wood from the fall wood and create the sized splint to weave the pack. You will store your own splint in paper bags to dry for later use. Since your process will produce extra materials, you will learn to do basic weaving on a form to weave a berry basket. This step will introduce the novice weave to basic techniques and challenge the expert weaver to work with the provided form or create their own shape.
