Folk School Class (pre-registration required) Advanced Soapmaking
-
October 23, 2018
5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
This class goes beyond the basics of just making a batch of soap into creating your own work of art. If you have made soap before and you would like to try some of the swirls you see me and others make this is the class for you!
There are a bunch of ways to create swirls in soap and I will teach as many varieties as there are students that sign up. You will get to choose from In The Pot Swirls, Butterfly Swirls, Plop Swirls (that one could have a better name in my opinion), Hangar Swirls and more. You will learn how to make all-natural cold process soap through creating a batch of your own.
Making swirls and two-toned soaps takes a little preparation, better time management, a different temperature range and several other skills (and preferably four hands) that you will learn in this class. Come have fun expanding your soapy knowledge!
Registration Includes
You’ll go home with a 2 pound batch of soap made entirely by you! This translates to about 8-10 bars of soap, once it’s cut. You’ll have the chance to choose your own color and scent from the beneficial herbs, clays and essential oils provided by the instructor. You will also leave with a simple-to-follow recipe, and knowledge of how to source your own ingredients.
