18th Century Folding Stand for a Book, Tablet, or Phone

Students will craft by hand a classic book stand design from Andre Roubo’s L’Art du Menuisier. Students will learn to layout and form a knuckle joint using chisels. We will then open the stands by hand sawing down the length of the boards. We will then shape and smooth the stand (or carve if you’re up for it) and prepare it for finish (though you will have to apply the finish of choice on your own).
