Have you ever wanted to make a quilt but didn’t have a lot of time? Are you an adventurous sort of person who is open to risk and not controlling the situation? Then this class is for you! In this class you will take a jelly roll (usually 40 strips that are 2.5″ wide by 40″ long) and sew them together – fast! – in a manner that gives you a 50″ x 60″ quilt top. [The word ‘race‘ in the class title reflects how fast these can come together!]
The pattern will be random and beautiful and unique. This will not be a completed quilt (you’ll still need to add the batting and the back), but you’ll have made a great start!
You do not need to have experience sewing, or even a machine of your own. We will provide machines if you need them and all the supplies for the class. If you do have an iron and ironing board feel free to bring them. Also if you have a good sharp pair of scissors bring them as well.
You will be provided with a ‘jelly roll,’ which looks like this:
We will also have all the thread you’ll need. When you’re done, you will go home with a completed quilt-top.
No special skills necessary.
Best for Ages…
7 and older.
You should bring…
Bring good fabric scissors (we have regular scissors you can use, but you’d be happier with sharp fabric scissors). We have plenty of sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, but you are welcome to bring your own of any or all, if you’d prefer.
