Chaga on a Birch Tree

Did you know, growing on our birch trees is one of the most powerfully medicinal mushrooms in the world? Chaga has been highly studied and is proven to kill cancer cells, shrink tumors, increase the body’s ability to respond and adapt to stress, and has a multitude of other benefits.

In this class, we will learn how to ethically harvest chaga mushroom in order to promote more chaga growth, while helping to protect our birch forests.

This class will be lecture and hands-on. Students will have the chance to taste chaga extracts, and we will be serving a chaga and reishi mushroom syrup during class. We will pass around a variety of different chaga pieces and hands-on examples of chaga and birch to feel and study for identification. Each student will make their own tincture in class to take home with them to care for, harvest, and use. Students will also take home a chaga manual to that includes everything we go over in class- how to identify, harvest, dry, and prepare chaga, and numerous creative chaga recipes.
