Duluth Folk School Camps

Art & Nature CampDuluth Folk School Building Canoe Paddle Camp
June 18 – June 22
Age: Entering 3rd, 4th or 5th grade
Up to 14 campers
Art & Nature Camp is designed to inspire creativity while working with wood, fabric, food, and natural harvested materials. Campers will participate in projects including building projects, folk stories, nature crafts, fishing, homemade games, a mini-play production, and many other fun traditional and modern activities.  A week of fun, creativity, hands-on activities, and discovery.


Build Camp
June 25 – June 29
Age: Entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
Up to 14 campers
In Build Camp, kids will build, cook, weave, lash, tie, and sew cool, useful take home creations! Build Camp is about learning handcrafting skills and creating awesome things. Activities include block printing, sewing, woodworking, fly fishing, and baking as well as fun games and activities.  We will also see how professionals create world class products, with behind the scene tours of local handcrafting businesses (like Duluth Pottery, Frost River Trading Co., and Aerostitch) in the Lincoln Park Craft District.  A fantastic camp for kids that like to be active and do things with their hands.


Woodworking CampCanoe Paddle Making Class
July 30 – August 3
Age: Entering 9th-12th grade
Up to 9 campers
In Woodworking Camp, kids will gain a variety of skills working with wood, through a week-long project! High school aged participants will build a canoe paddle from start to finish.  Along the way, everyone will learn about types of wood, gluing, clamping, woodworking tools and their use as well as wood finishing.  The week will culminate in using our newly made paddles on a canoe trip on the St. Louis River, where everyone will get to learn canoeing skills and have a fantastic time on the water.  A fun week of discovery, new friends, and creativity.
